I have always mused about the different ways couples get to know us – In some cases they get to know us through our marketing media on the internet; some know us while we were on assignments; there are also those who are personal friends of mine. Then there is this particular group of couples who, through our friends’ recommendation, trust in us to capture their moments. Isaac and Geraldine – this quirky and fashionable couple (and deeply devoted to their religion I must add!), belong to the latter group, which is amazing considering the history behind it!

You see, long before I was silly enough to embark on this wedding photography journey, I was living in Japan and occasionally had friends who came over to visit me. One of my very longest friend since my childhood days came by for 1 week or so, and we made plans to do a little bit of traveling (well, a lot actually) since I was quite the travel buff in those days. Except this wasn’t an ordinary travel trip – it was supposed to be his secret proposal and boy did we sweat on the detailed planning and locations. Thankfully we managed to pull it off (she said ‘yes’!) and I managed to grab some really cool travel shots of them in the process.

Somehow, sharing the photos on social media caught the attention of his friends, and among them were Isaac and Geraldine. They were keen on having me do a photoshoot for them overseas, which was probably due to the candid nature of my images and that was what they had been looking for as well! So, when I returned from my stint in Japan, we met up, things hit off pretty well, and soon we made plans for Hong Kong as our preferred destination to rock their gown and suits.

Our schedule there was crazy as it involved lots of traveling, early wake ups, and even a hike up a mountain just to capture the beautiful scenery that HK is famous for. From the craggy shoreline of Shek Wan, the gorgeous Dragonback trail hike, and to the funky streets of Central, we had an absolutely whale of a time which a tremendou amount of  credit have to go to the couple for being the best travellers without any complaints (although they did look dead tired after the 2nd day).  Thankfully, we pulled through and got back home in one piece! It was my first time there as well and I couldn’t believe how diverse and beautiful the country is!

The images below tell the story of our journey in Hongkong, and this post is actually part 1 of this featured couple. Part 2 will see us reliving their wedding day, which was also an absolute blast! Till then, just sit back, grab a few dim sums and char siew baos, and relax! 😀
